Über das Buch
Daniel und Rachel machen mit einem befreundeten Pärchen Urlaub auf der Isle of Skye in den schottischen Highlands. Bei einer Wanderung fühlt sich Daniel von der Umgebung magisch angezogen, und nach einem Streit mit Rachel macht er sich alleine auf den Weg in die Highlands. Ausgerechnet am Tag der Sommersonnenwende, wo die Barriere zwischen den Welten dünn ist, und im Tal glaubt er Lichter zu sehen. Plötzlich ist er mitten drin in einem alten Krieg zwischen Feen und Riesen.
Die Novelle ist natürlich ein recht kurzes Format, und auch hier sind die Charaktere zum Teil etwas kurz gekommen. Es hat mich aber nicht allzu stark gestört, denn vor allem Daniel war mir dennoch sehr sympathisch, auch wenn er am Ende ein bisschen flatterhaft war. Und auch der alte Alaisdair hat mit sehr gut gefallen, während Daniels Freundin Rachel durch ihre Zickigkeit ja eher negativ aufgefallen ist. Außerdem hat Aileen Roberts wirklich einen sehr schönen flüssigen Schreibstil, der mir gefallen hat, und mir schöne Bilder in den Kopf gezaubert hat.
Fazit
Die Novelle entführt in das Reich der Feen, und erzählt in der Kürze der Zeit eine zauberhafte Geschichte mit einem überraschenden Ende. Eine schöne Geschichte für zwischendurch.
