Cover
Das Cover finde ich gut und passend zum Thema. Die Charaktere sind von Wasser umgeben, dass eine sehr dominante Rolle spielt und auch die Tatsache, dass die weibliche Person auf dem Cover ein teuer aussehendes Kleid trägt, während der Junge eher spärlich bekleidet ist, passt zum Inhalt. Außerdem ist der blaue Buchschnitt mal was anderes.
Über das Buch
Nina ist eine Trockene, und ihr Vater ist ein wichtiger Politiker. Nachdem ihre Schule aufgrund von Wasserschäden geschlossen wurde, kommt sie auf eine Schule, auf die auch Nasse gehen. Nasse, Menschen zweiter Klasse, die ein hartes Arbeiterleben ohne Privilegien fuhren. Zu ihnen gehört auch Max. Als ihr Lehrer Max und Nina zu einem gemeinsamen Referat einteilt, entdecken die beiden, das Trockene und Nasse auch gemeinsame Interessen haben, aber auch, wie viel wirklich zwischen ihnen steht.
„Zwischen uns die Flut“ wird abwechselnd aus der Perspektive von Max und Nina in der Ich-Perspektive erzählt. So erhält man in beide Seiten einen Einblick und erfährt, wie Trockene und Nasse die neue Welt nach der Flut erleben. Obwohl bei diesem Buch die Ich-Perspektive gewählt wurde konnte ich leider keine richtige Verbindung zu den Charakteren bekommen. Sowohl mit Max als auch mit Nina konnte ich nie so richtig mitfühlen. Ich kann gar nicht so genau sagen, woran es eigentlich lag.
Gerade am Anfang waren mir weder Max noch Nina besonders sympathisch. Nina ist in einem reichen Haus aufgewachsen, und obwohl sie ihre Schwester verloren hat und ihre Mutter anscheinend unter Depressionen leidet, wirkt sie sehr behütet und auch ziemlich naiv. Sie lässt sich treiben und hat ihr Leben nicht selbst in der Hand. Das ändert sich zum Glück zum Ende des Buches, und sie macht eine Entwicklung durch, das fand ich gut, aber auch dann kam keine Verbindung zustande. Und Max ist ein unbeherrschter Haudrauf. Und Menschen ohne ein Fünkchen Selbstbeherrschung sind mir einfach grundsätzlich unsympathisch. Und obwohl auch er sich verändert, und versucht, Nina zu beschützen war er einfach als Charakter nicht mein Fall. Der einzige, der mir als Charakter gefallen hat, war der „Bösewicht“, aber ich verrate euch lieber mal nicht, wen ich damit meine.
Obwohl mir die Charaktere nicht so zugesagt haben, war die Story an sich doch ganz okay. Am Anfang hat es etwas gedauert, bis endlich Schwung in die Sache kam, aber dann wurde es durchaus spannend, und die Geschehnisse folgten recht fix aufeinander. Aber auch hier fand ich es schade, dass man nicht allzu viel über die Welt der Trockenen und Nassen erfährt. Ich habe nicht richtig verstanden, wie diese neue Welt aufgebaut ist. Vor allem hat mich gestört, dass häufig Abkürzungen verwendet wurden, die niemals, oder erst wesentlich später erklärt wurden. Ich habe eine ganze Weile damit verschwendet zu rätseln, wofür einige Abkürzungen wohl stehen, und bei einigen weiß ich es noch immer nicht.
Fazit
Zwischen uns die Flut hatte eine solide Grundidee und entwickelte sich nach den ersten Längen recht spannend. Dennoch konnte die Geschichte mich nicht so richtig in ihren Bann ziehen, vor allem, weil die Charaktere mir persönlich nicht besonders lagen. Wer gerne Dystopien lässt, sollte sein Glück aber dennoch versuchen.
