Das Cover zeigt mal wieder ein Mädchen, aber ich finde es sehr schön und duster. Der stechende Blick des Mädchens passt sehr gut zu meiner Vorstellung von Lily. Für mich passt das Cover und ist ansprechend.
Über das Buch
Lily versteht die Welt nicht mehr. Erst wird sie von einem zweiköpfigen Hund angegriffen und verblutet dabei fast, dann wird sie von einem gutaussehenden Fremden gerettet, und dann versuchen plötzlich Männer in einem schwarzen Van, sie zu entführen. Zusammen mit dem geheimnisvollen Regan versucht sie, dem ganzen auf die Spur zu kommen und hinter die magische Fassade Londons zu schauen.
Lily war mir von Anfang an ziemlich sympathisch, auch wenn ich im zunehmenden Verlauf der Geschichte nicht all ihre Handlungen verstanden habe. Sie ist clever und mutig, und manchmal neigt sie dennoch dazu, unüberlegt zu handeln und sich immer wieder in Gefahr zu bringen. Regan ist, wie die meisten Helden, düster und attraktiv. Er ist ein Eigenbrötler und kämpft jede Nacht für die Sicherheit Londons gegen allerlei Kreaturen. Obwohl er sich rührend um Lily kümmert und versucht, sie zu beschützen, ist er die meiste Zeit ziemlich unnahbar geblieben und ich konnte keine richtige Verbindung zu ihm aufbauen. Viele der anderen Charaktere blieben leider ebenfalls etwas blass, obwohl ich gerne mehr über sie erfahren hätte. Ausnahme ist hier nun ein Charakter, über den ich noch nicht mehr verraten möchte. Gestört hat mich an den Charakteren vor allem Lilys Vater, der es nahezu ohne zu fragen hinnimmt, dass seine 16 -jährigeTochter mit einem neuen tätowierten Freund und dazu einer Menge Kratzer und Blessuren blutbeschmiert nach Hause kommt und ständig wieder verschwindet. Er fragt zwar schon mal nach, bleibt aber alles in allem außerordentlich passiv, wie man es von einem fürsorglichen Vater wohl kaum erwarten könnte.
Besonders gefallen haben mir an der Story die eher düstere Atmosphäre, die Winterkälte und die bedrohliche Stimmung. Es gibt eine gute Portion Action, und auch mal ein bisschen Gewalt und Tod, was hervorragend zur Atmosphäre beiträgt. Auch der Fantasy-Anteil hat mir gut gefallen. Es gab jede Menge Kreaturen und es war wirklich spannend, auch wenn einiges viel zu wenig erklärt wurde. Aber natürlich darf in dieser Urban Fantasy Geschichte auch die Romantik nicht fehlen, von der ich mir insgesamt noch etwas mehr gewünscht hätte. Überhaupt lässt die Gefühlswelt hier einiges zu wünschen übrig. Dafür gab es jede Menge magische Kreaturen und noch mehr Geheimnisse, von denen leider nicht alle aufgeklärt wurden.
Der Schreibstil ist angenehm und liest sich locker flockig weg. Man konnte sehr gut folgen. Die Story hat mich allerdings manchmal ein bisschen verwirrt und ich hatte nicht immer das Gefühl, richtig folgen zu können. Es war ein bisschen, als würde an manchen Stellen der rote Faden fehlen und einige Dinge waren auch ziemlich vorhersehbar.
Fazit
“Zwischen Licht und Finsternis“ ist eine gelungene Urban Fantasy Geschichte mit Spannung und Action, die sich gut für kalte Herbsttage eignet. Trotz einiger Schwächen bei den Charakteren und vielen Geheimnissen, hat mir das Buch gut gefallen.
