Das Cover ist relative schlicht, trifft den Inhalt aber ganz gut auf den Punkt und zeigt eindeutig die Protagonistin Ezra. Für mich ein passendes Cover, wenn es sich auch nicht unbedingt von seinen Buchgenossen in der Buchhandlung abhebt.
Über das Buch
Ezra ist anders. Ihre Sinne sind schärfer als die der anderen Menschen und auch ihre körperliche Kraft und Geschwindigkeit übersteigt ein normales Maß. Nachdem ihr Leben von Kopfgeldjägern bedroht wird, flieht sie und versucht, den Grund für ihre Andersartigkeit zu finden. Schnell findet sie Wegbegleiter für ihre Reise zur Selbsterkenntnis, doch die Gefahren auf ihrem Weg sind nichts zu unterschätzen, und Ezra muss sich immer wieder neuen Herausforderungen stellen.
Ezras Geschichte wird von einem Erzähler erzählt, und folgt hauptsächlich Ezras Perspektive. Ab und zu wird ihre Geschichte jedoch von ungewöhnlichen Szenen unterbrochen, in denen Kristallgremlins im Mittelpunkt stehen, die unter einem Berg Schicksalstafeln suchen, um das Schicksal einzelner Menschen zu enthüllen. Mit darunter auch Ezras Schicksal. Es war eine witzige Idee, auch wenn ich gestehen muss, dass mich die Gremlins nicht so packen konnte und ich immer darauf brannte, bei Ezra weiterzulesen.
Die Charaktere waren divers und spannend. Besonders Ezra unterscheidet sich mit ihrer Art zu denken sehr von typischen Protagonistinnen, die ja oft von romantischen Gefühlen geleitet werden. Ezra ist eher rational, wenig gefühlsduselig, manchmal fast ein bisschen kalt. Aber es passt sehr gut zu ihr und ich mochte es sehr gern, ihre Entwicklung zu verfolgen. Über ihre Begleiter möchte ich noch nicht so viel verraten, aber auch sie mochte ich und fand sie gut gestaltet, auch wenn ich zum Teil gern noch mehr Hintergrundwissen zu ihnen gehabt hätte.
Die Story an sich war spannend, und hatte die ein oder andere Überraschung zu bieten, wenn natürlich das Grundkonzept . Insgesamt fand ich die Handlung zwar relativ geradlinig, würde es aber nicht als besonders negativ ankreiden. Gestört hat mich nur zum Teil, dass mir Ezras Mission manchmal fast etwas zu leicht erschien. Dennoch war es insgesamt sehr stimmig, obwohl mich das Ende leider nicht ganz überzeugen konnte.
Schön fand ich aber auch, das Themen wie Ausgrenzung, Vorurteile, religiöser Fanatismus und ähnliches aufgegriffen wurden, ohne stark wertend mit diesen Themen umzugehen, so dass sich jeder seine eignen Meinung bilden kann.
Fazit
“Die Chimäre – Silben der Macht“ ist ein gelungener Fantasyroman, der eine interessante Welt schafft und mit diversen Charakteren bevölkert, deren Geschichte mich bisher überzeugen konnte. Ich bin gespannt, noch mehr aus dieser Welt zu lesen.
