Marie Menke wurde 1997 geboren, wuchs in einer Kleinstadt in NRW auf und machte nach ihrem Abitur einen einjährigen Abstecher in Spaniens Hauptstadt Madrid. Das Cover finde ich passend und gelungen. Es erinnert mich an heiße Sommertage und das Meer und spiegelt damit die Atmosphäre des Buches sehr gut wieder. Und auch die Buchstaben passen zur Schreibleidenschaft der Camp-Bewohner.
Über das Buch
Allie ist verrückt nach Wörtern und schreibt sehr gerne. Natürlich freut sie sich sehr, als ihre Eltern sie über den Sommer drei Monate in ein ausgefallenes Schreibcamp auf einer fantastischen Insel im Nordpazifik schicken. Mit zehn ist sie dort das erste Mal, und jedes Jahr freut sie sich erneut auf den Besuch im Camp und auf ihre ebenfalls schreibbegeisterten neuen Freundinnen Shayla und Liv. Doch im siebten Sommer ist etwas anders. Es ist nicht nur ein Neuer im Camp, was höchst ungewöhnlich ist, sondern es offenbaren sich plötzlich einige Geheimnisse, die besonders Allie bislang geborgen verblieben sind.
Durch die Beschreibungen der ersten sechs Sommer lernt man Allie, ihre Freundinnen und das Camp mit seinen Bewohnern zunächst in vielen kleinen Szenen kennen, ehe sie in einen aufregenden siebten Sommer startet.
Das Camp war ziemlich interessant, da wäre ich auch gern mal hingefahren. Allie und ihre Freundinnen genießen es dort sichtlich, und dass Sommerfeeling hat sich beim Lesen sehr gut auf mich übertragen. Allie mochte ich sehr gerne, und auch die anderen Charaktere, besonders ihre Freundinnen fand ich super. Jede von ihnen ist irgendwie einzigartig und hat einen kleinen Tick, wie zum Beispiel Livs Vorliebe für sehr schräge Essenskombinationen. Dadurch fühlte man sich ihnen sehr schnell verbunden. Doch die beiden wissen definitiv etwas, von dem Allie keine Ahnung hat. Und hier kommt ein Punkt, der mir an Allie nicht gefallen hat. Denn es passieren komische Dinge, und ihr spuken viele Fragen im Kopf rum, die man sich auch als Leser stellt, und im nächsten Moment hat sie schon wieder alles vergessen und liegt gemütlich am Strand. Das konnte ich absolut nicht nachvollziehen, wie sie solche Informationen immer wieder verdrängen konnte.
Und dann ist da natürlich auch noch der geheimnisvolle Matt, der natürlich unglaublich gut aussieht, aber zunächst eher unnahbar erscheint. Doch natürlich funkt es zwischen ihm und Allie gewaltig. Das gibt dem ganzen Sommerfeeling noch eine romantische Note, die gut dazu gepasst hat. Insgesamt hat mir die Story aber sehr gut gefallen. Die wechselnden Atmosphären, die Geheimnisse und die ganze Story, die dahinter steckt, und die ich euch natürlich nicht verrate, war wirklich klasse. Wirklich schade ist nur, dass meines Wissens nach noch nicht feststeht, ob es eine Fortsetzung geben wird. Dabei schreit gerade das Ende förmlich danach, und ich hoffe einfach mal, dass es doch noch weiter gehen wird.
Sehr gut gefallen hat mir Marie Menkes schöner Schreibstil. Er war frisch und flüssig und dazu sehr bildhaft. Manchmal hatte man fast selbst das Gefühl, die Sonne auf dem Gesicht zu spüren. Und dabei ist es ihr dennoch gelungen sowohl eine bezaubernde Sommer-Atmosphäre als auch eine etwas düstere Atmosphäre zu erzeugen.
Fazit
Ein toller Sommerroman voller Gefühl, Geheimnissen und jeder Menge Spannung. Besonders das fiese Ende lässt mich doch sehr hoffen, dass es noch einen zweiten Teil geben wird.
