Das Cover von “Black Blade” gefällt mir richtig gut. Es ist sehr schlicht und sieht dabei trotzdem total klasse aus. In seiner Einfachheit entspricht es sehr meinem Geschmack.
Über das Buch
Lila ist eine Waise. Mehr oder weniger allein schlägt sie sich als Diebin Cloudburst Falls durch und versucht, jeglichem Ärger aus dem Weg zu gehen. Doch leider gelingt das nicht mehr ganz so gut, als sie Devon begegnet, und spontan beschließt, ihm in einer brenzligen Situation beizustehen – womit der ganze Ärger seinen Anfang nimmt. Und plötzlich ist Lila mitten drin im Konkurrenzkamp der rivalisierenden Familien von Cloudburst Falls.
Erzählt wird die Geschichte aus der Ich-Perspektive von Lila Merriweather. Ihre Gedankengänge waren spannend und unterhaltsam und sie war mir von Anfang an sympathisch. Ich konnte ihre Handlungsweise insgesamt sehr gut nachvollziehen, auch wenn sie mir in ihrer Einsamkeit manchmal sehr Leid tat. Aber Lila ist tough und stark, und natürlich talentiert. Sie weiß was sie will, ist loyal und man kann. Aber natürlich hat sie auch ihre Schwächen, zum Beispiel dass sie wirklich Probleme hat, anderen Menschen zu vertrauen oder sich auch mal was sagen zu lassen. Ich bin gespannt, wie sie sich im Laufe der Trilogie noch weiterentwickeln wird.
Neben Lila gibt es natürlich auch noch andere Charaktere. Einer meiner Lieblinge ist eindeutig der etwas verschrobene Mo, Lilas Hehler. Er ist irgendwie kauzig und war mir mit seiner Art einfach sympathisch. Auch wenn er ein bisschen zwielichtig ist. Und dann ist da natürlich auch noch Devon, der sowas wie der männliche Hauptprotagonist ist. Obwohl man von ihm schon einen ganz guten Eindruck bekommen hat, wünsche ich mir für ihn noch etwas mehr Profil, und hoffe, dass es im zweiten Teil mehr Infos über ihn geben wird. Obwohl ich die Ich-Perspektive sehr gerne mag, sind die anderen Charaktere dadurch ja manchmal etwas eingeschränkt, was häufig schade ist.
Interessant fand ich die Magie, die „Black Blade“ zu bieten hat. Einige Menschen sind normal, andere haben bestimmte Talente, die sich in verschiedene Stärken und Kategorien einordnen lassen und dem ganzen einen besonderen Touch geben. Ich bin schon gespannt, was für Talenten wir noch begegnen werden.
Die Story verfolgt einen schönen roten Faden und verliert sich nicht in Kleinigkeiten. Dabei ist es aber keinesfalls vorhersehbar und ich hätte bis zum Schluss nicht damit gerechnet wie es am Ende ausgegangen ist. Gefallen hat mir vor allem, dass es immer wieder wichtige Kleinigkeiten gab, die später noch einmal wichtig geworden sind, und so einen schönen Bogen geschlagen haben. Und natürlich gibt es auch einen Storybogen, der nicht mit dem ersten Band dieser Trilogie abschließt, und so ganz viel Lust auf die Fortsetzung macht.
Fazit
Black Blade ist ein toller Roman der für mich die perfekte Mischung aus Spannung, Action und Fantasyelementen, in Form von Magie und Kreaturen, liefert. Dazu kommen jede Menge Geheimnisse, und gute Charaktere, die das ganze Abrunden. Daher bin ich schon sehr gespannt auf den nächsten Band.
