Das Cover finde ich schön. Es ist total simpel und zieht gerade dadurch auf einem Tisch voller Bücher die Aufmerksamkeit auf sich. Es ist gut gewählt, und insgesamt ist die Reihe einfach toll gestaltet.
Über das Buch
Als Tessa an die Universität kommt, um Englisch zu studieren, hat sie nur ein Ziel. Gute Noten, die Erwartungen ihrer Mutter erfüllen, und hoffentlich einen Praktikumsplatz bekommen. Tessa ist perfekt, hat perfekte Noten, einen perfekten netten Freund, und einen ausgeklügelten Plan für ihr Leben. Und schon als sie in ihrem Wohnheimzimmer auf ihre neue Mitbewohnerin Steph und zwei ihrer Freunde trifft, wird ihr Leben aus der Bahn geworfen. Steph hat rot gefärbte Haare und Piercings, und auch ihre Freunde glänzen vor lauter Metall und zahlreichen Tattoos. Als Tessa sich von Steph zu einer Party in einer Verbindung überreden lässt, lernt Tessa noch mehr Leute ihres fragwürdigen Freundeskreises kennen, die so anders sind, als sie selbst und ihr Freund Noah. Besonders mit dem launischen Hardin gerät Tessa gleich zu Anfang aneinander, doch seiner dunklen Anziehungskraft kann er sich nicht entziehen.
Die Charaktere sind in diesem Buch verhältnismäßig zahlreich. Neben den Hauptprotagonisten Tessa und Hardin, gibt es auch noch Steph und ihren großen Freundeskreis. Ich fange hier mal mit den Nebencharakteren an, die zum Teil leider noch etwas blass geblieben sind. Steph ist an der Uni Tessas beste Freundin, und doch erfährt man über sie fast nichts, was ich schade fand. Und auch von den meisten anderen Charakteren erfährt man so gut wie nichts. Eine Ausnahme bildet hier immerhin Landon, ein Kommilitone von Tessa, und seine Familie. Ich hoffe, das die nächsten Bände hier noch ein bisschen mehr zu bieten haben, denn auf 700 Seiten sollte zumindest ein bisschen Platz für Nebencharaktere sein.
Jetzt aber mal zu Tessa und Hardin. Während Tessa die Verkörperung einer Musterschülerin ist, ist Hardin der Bad Boy, der gefühlt jeden Tag eine Andere abschleppt, keinerlei Rücksicht auf Andere und ihre Gefühle nimmt, und mit seiner Familie im Clinch liegt. Und obwohl die beiden so unterschiedlich sind, scheint zwischen den beiden eine Anziehungskraft zu herrschen, der keiner der Beiden entgehen kann. Ihre Beziehung ist geprägt von Leidenschaft und Gefühlen, wobei das hier in ganz unterschiedliche Richtungen geht. Denn Leidenschaft meint hier nicht nur sexuelle Anziehung, sondern auch das Austragen von Konflikten, von denen es weiß Gott genug gibt. Wenn man denkt, jetzt hat Hardin mal einen Schritt in die richtige Richtung gemacht, fliegt der armen Tessa wieder alles um die Ohren. Dabei muss man sagen, das Hardin tatsächlich eine beträchtliche Entwicklung durchläuft, auch wenn man diese aufgrund seiner regelmäßigen Ausbrüche schnell aus den Augen verliert. Aber Frauen stehen ja schließlich auf diesen Bad-Boy Charme, oder nicht?

Doch auch Tessa entwickelt sich sehr, ob zum Positiven kann ich allerdings gar nicht so genau beurteilen. Ich konnte viele ihrer Entscheidungen nachvollziehen, aber genauso viele haben in mir den Drang ausgelöst, meinen Kopf gegen die nächste Wand zu schlagen. Kann man so naiv sein? – Tessa kann es. Und manchmal hat sie mich damit schon ziemlich genervt. Ich mochte e saber auch, dass sie, manchmal zumindest, durchaus ihren eigenen Willen hatte und obwohl sie wie ein stilles Mäuschen wirkt, durchaus Contra geben konnte.
Die Story ist, kurz gesagt, ziemlich einfach, dafür, dass das Buch so ein Schinken ist. 50 Prozent des Buches bestehen aus Sex oder daraus, wie Tessa und Hardin sich anschreien. Es gibt sicher genügend Leserinnen, die sich dafür begeistern können, und ja, auch ich hatte dabei durchaus meinen Spaß, auch wenn meine Stirn einige Beulen davongetragen hat. Die Dialoge waren witzig, und haben insgesamt Spaß gemacht, auch wenn ich mir manchmal gewünscht hätte, dass es insgesamt etwas weniger vorhersehbar gewesen wäre. Auch das Ende war für mich nicht wirklich überraschend, aber wirklich gut umgesetzt und ich bin schon gespannt, wie es weitergeht und freue mich definitiv auf den zweiten Teil.
Da ich das Buch nicht gelesen, sondern als Hörbuch gehört habe, möchte ich auch gerne noch kurz was zur Lesung sagen. Die Stimme von Nicole Engeln hat mir insgesamt gut gefallen. Sie hat einen schönen Lese -Rhythmus und auch ihre Art der Betonung von Dialogen hat mir gut gefallen. Manche der Mädchenstimmen fand ich üersönlich manchmal ein bisschen zu hoch. Auch wenn es zu Molly, deren Stimme als nervig beschrieben ist, dann schon wieder passt. Aber auch Steph und selbst gelegentlich Tessa haben recht hohe Stimminterpretationen. Vielleicht bin ich aber auch der falsche Maßstab, da ich generell männliche Stimmen bevorzuge. Dennoch ist die Lesung insgesamt sehr gelungen, und ich würde auch Teil 2 wohl wieder als Hörbuch hören. Loben muss ich hier auch noch mal kurz, dass es eine komplette Lesung ist, denn ich hasse es, wenn die Hälfte weggekürzt wird.
Fazit
Ich bin mir ziemlich sicher, dass After Passion zu den Büchern gehört, die man entweder hasst oder liebt. Entweder man kann Tessa auf den Tod nicht ausstehen, oder man kann zumindest zum Teil mit ihr fühlen. Ich kann allen Lesern auf jeden Fall versprechen, dass das Buch tatsächlich heftige Gefühle auslöst, nur deren Art, werde ich mal nicht vorhersagen 🙂
Obwohl ich einiges zu bemängeln hatte, habe ich mich entschieden, dem Buch bzw. Hörbuch vier Herzchen zu geben, denn ich hatte jede Menge Spaß, und Freunde dieses Genres wird es sicher begeistern können. Ich fand es auf jeden Fall spannender als „Shades of Grey“ und bin gespannt auf den nächsten Band.

Die Rezi klingt auf jeden Fall sehr gut, und das mit den Gefühlen bezüglich der Protagonistin habe ich mir schon fast gedacht, denn die Meinugnen trifften ja genau in diese beiden Richtungen. Erinnert etwas an House of Nights 🙂
