Nach anfänglicher Zurückhaltung gibt auch er sich Hope hin, die beiden Teenager erleben miteinander die ersten Schmetterlinge im Bauch und den ersten Kuss.
Als die Ältesten der Stadt von ihrer Liebe erfahren, müssen Hope & Eli eine Entscheidung treffen. Stimmen die Legenden, wird ihre Verbindung die Stadt zerstören und alle Menschen, die in Lakefalls leben. Fügen sie sich den Gesetzen von Lakefalls und gehen getrennte Wege? Oder ignorieren sie die Warnungen und kämpfen um ihre junge Liebe?

Über das Buch
Eiskalt wie Feuer wird aus Hopes Perspektive erzählt, wodurch man von Anfang an in ihre Gefühlswelt eintaucht. Dabei wird schnell klar, dass Hope eine zutiefst verletzte und einsame junge Frau ist. Der Umzug nach Lake Falls macht ihr den Verlust ihrer Familie nicht leichter und wie ihr die Leute in der kleinen Stadt begegnen ist einfach nur eklig. Dann begegnet sie Eli, der ihr hilft, sich in der Stadt zurecht zu finden und sich endlich wieder wohl zu fühlen. Aufgrund der Kürze dieses ersten Teils fand ich, dass sich die Beziehung der beiden viel zu schnell entwickelt hat, was ich sehr schade fand. Denn auch zeitlich gesehen deckt die Handlung dieses ersten Teils nur wenige Tage ab, in der sich für mich eine Beziehung einfach nicht so schnell entwickeln kann, wie hier beschrieben.
Obwohl Geheimnisse natürlich auch zum weiter lesen animieren sollen, so fand ich doch, dass hier auch mal ein paar kleine Antworten gut getan hätten. Die ganze Stadt hasst Hope, aber warum? Spätestens am Ende dieses ersten Teils hätte ich mich sehr gefreut, zumindest ein kleines Häppchen serviert zu bekommen. Ich hoffe der zweite Band wird über viele Dinge Aufschluss geben und sich ein bisschen mehr Raum für die Entwicklung der Charaktere geben. Denn so war vieles für mich leider nicht ganz plausibel.
Fazit
“Eiskalt wie Feuer – Hopes Erwachen“ ist ein interessanter, aber leider sehr kurzer Auftakt, wodurch einiges, wie beispielsweise die Charakterentwicklung und auch die kontinuierliche Entwicklung zwischenmenschlicher Beziehungen, auf der Strecke geblieben ist. Ich hoffe, das Band zwei in diese Richtung etwas mehr zu bieten hat.
